Join the Postdoctoral Office, Postdoctoral Program Director Dr. Penny Pexman, for an information session and presentation from postdoctoral fellow Dr. Amity Quinn and Assistant Professor Dr. Sheri Madigan who have recently completed high profile projects.

- Dr. Amity Quinn is a postdoctoral fellow in Health Economics at the University of Calgary. Her research focuses on the design and impact of health care financing, physician payment, and care delivery models. She received a Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship to support her current research on specialist physician payment. Dr. Quinn has been involved in local and national policy initiatives to improve how health care policymakers, organisations, and providers address the behavioral health and social needs of patients. Dr. Quinn has a PhD in Social Policy from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University and an A.B. in Community Health from Brown University.

- Dr. Sheri Madigan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology. She holds a Canada Research Chair in Determinants of Child Development and is a member of the Owerko Centre at the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute. Her research seeks to isolate central determinants of child and youth development. She is primarily focused on understanding how social stressors and adversities can influence youth development. She is also interested in understanding why some mothers and youth show resilience to these stressors and adversities while others remain vulnerable. Her research has been published in the top journals in Psychology, Psychiatry, and Pediatrics including JAMA Pediatrics, Psychological Bulletin, Pediatrics, Journal of Adolescent Health, Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, Child Development, and the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Her work has been widely covered in the media, including The New York Times, Time Magazine, Harper’s Index, CNN, CBC, and Today’s Parent, as well as ABC’s Good Morning America, CTV and Global news. She regularly write news articles for The Conversation Canada, and is the child development expert for CTV Morning Live Calgary, providing monthly segments on topics related to parenting and child development. In 2014 she received the Emerging Researcher Award from the World Association for Infant Mental Health.
